Age Takes Centre Stage 2008 Plans are already taking shape for the thirteenth festival for over 50s in North Tyneside in October 2008. The Launch on Wednesday 1st October (International and UK Day for Older People) will be a 1960s-themed celebration at the Shiremoor Centre – book it in your diary now for a lot of fun. We welcome suggestions and offers of events for the 2008 festival, so if you have any comments, offers or suggestions please contact the Planning Group by clicking here. Nominations are now invited for the Age Takes Centre Stage Awards, so if you know an individual or a group aged 50+ whose contribution to the community here in North Tyneside deserves recognition, why not nominate them for an Award. Click here to find out more. As well as hosting the Awards on board their cruise ship, DFDS Seaways have organized a fabulous mini-cruise during the Festival. ‘The Delft Experience’ includes an excursion to Madurodam - a wonderful model of Holland in miniature – and then the beautiful town of Delft, with a visit the famous Delft Blue Pottery Factory.
