50+ Swim the Channel Challenge
Who can swim the furthest during October? Can you swim the distance of the English Channel (21 miles)? – you can win a prize T-shirt if you do. Pick up a form to keep a track of how far you swim when you visit Tynemouth Pool or the Lakeside Centre in Killingworth. Normal swimming charges apply. Undersea Safari Tynemouth’s Blue Reef Aquarium provides a spectacular introduction to the wonders of the world beneath the waves. We will take you on a tour including over 40 living displays featuring seals, tropical shark’s octopus, seahorses, otters, frogs and piranhas. Including an entertaining talk where you can meet a few of the creatures bringing the whole experience to life. 2pm every Thursday. £3.50 including tour, talk and refreshments on production of programme. Monday 1st October International Day for Older People
Festival Launch at Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths and Museum Join us in the Bath House for the official launch at 11am with the Silver Threads singers and the Shuggies performance group. Stay or drop in any time between 10.30am – 3pm to have a go at mosaic making and bread baking, enjoy displays, exhibitions and taster sessions. Everyone over 50 is welcome. Free. Tel 280 8498
